The Improbase conducts systematic training in jazz and improvised music. Our students are between 9 and 18 years old. They all get weekly training in harmonics, chord progressions, and various improvisation tecniques.

We run a number of ensembles and groups, always prompting every single participant to perform improvised solos without fear.

Cooperating with the municipality of Ski, we have the disposal of our own premises in the small village of Kråkstad, Akershus, Norway. Here we have developed a resource center, offering our services to everyone dedicated to musical improvisation for children and young people throughout the nation.

In our studio the students can do recordings, mix music and learn about recording equipment and software. In addition they get to learn about accompaniment, arranging and composition. We also guide them in the art of teaching.

Our different activities have gained widespread attention, and we are proud to receive some of our country's (and Europe's) most skillful jazz musicians to conduct workshops and masterclasses between tours all around the world.

We have huge activity all through the week, and we also arrange classes and workshops for external participants. Odd André Elveland is our professional manager.

We intend to translate some of our articles into english. We also plan a series of educational videos to be published on Youtube.
